I’ve been writing TMG for about 2 1/2 years now. Since then I’ve corresponded with many readers and have enjoyed getting to know you.
I always wish that I could meet you in person, but for various reasons that’s impossible — most of the time.
There is an opportunity that has come my way that may allow me to have the chance to meet you in person if you are within a comfortable driving distance.
A Master Gardener volunteer for the King George Farmer’s Market in King George County, Virginia contacted me via e-mail.
She wrote, “We would love to have you share your fall gardening tips in person at the September Community Day at the King George Farmers’ Market on 1st September. Volunteer Master Gardeners will man a Plant Clinic and lots of other special activities are planned. —
In addition to local, fresh bounty provided by our Producers-Only Market, we continually strive to bring local expertise and artisans to our venue in order to educate, enlighten and entertain the community.”
She continued, “Are you willing to come to King George on Saturday, September 1, 2012 and spend an hour talking and answering questions?” (It’s about 1 1/2 hours from me.)
I said yes.
I plan to be there from 10 AM to 11 AM BUT if you are there talking and asking questions at 11 AM I will happily stay until Noon.
The King George Farmers Market is located at 10381 Ridge Road, King George, Va. 22485. (King George Elementary School at the corner of Rt. 3 and Rt. 205.)
The Market starts at 8 AM and goes until Noon. I will be there by 10AM. They are providing a canopy, table, and chairs for me. Bill will be there with me.
I don’t know if you are close enough to attend, but I would be delighted to meet you if it works into your schedule.
I hope it will.

We have gardeners answering questions at our market. They don’t usually have a ‘speaker’, but people bring lots of questions – and they are usually swamped. I’d love if if they added a local gardener. I bet you’ll have a great turn out. I wish I lived closer. Well done!
What a wonderful experience for you, Theresa. I hope you really enjoy it. Carol
Thanks Sandra and Carol.
When I first received the invitation I was a bit hesitant.
I called the young woman who contacted me and was very upfront with her.
I told here that I understood there would be many Master Gardeners there and I know many of them are into chemicals and “complicated”. I’m not.
She told me that would not be a problem — since many were organic gardeners and also now they (the overall program) are starting to recommend organic solutions as well. That certainly is a step in the right direction and I really thought it was grand that there will be Master Gardeners there who are organic as well.
I was just very anxious for her to know that I am not into complicated or chemicals — but very big into SIMPLE! I wanted to make sure that they really wanted me there before accepting the invitation.
I still feel that I will probably get questions from folks wanting complicated answers and chemical answers. Obviously they won’t want my answers — but I’m sure I can refer them to someone else.
And Sandra — I wish you lived closer too!!!!!!!

OH I’m sure you will be the most popular speaker there. I sure wish I lived closer too. It would be nice to meet you, although you make us all feel like we are all friends of yours.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

You are my friend Danita! And I wish you could be there with me on Saturday. I’ll let you know what happens. Keep your fingers crossed. 😉

Congratulations Theresa, You will be a great addition to what sounds like a great Farmers Market. When someone asks me about organic gardening I try to keep my replies very simple. You have always made your articles so easy for your followers to understand I just know you will be a huge success. Wish I lived closer.
I agree Alice — simple is the way to go!
I’m glad to know that my articles are easy to understand. I strive for that.
Thanks for all the encouragement. Sorry we can’t engage the U.S.S Enterprise to beam us all together on Saturday! 🙂
Theresa,
This is wonderful! In our otherwise complicated life — trying to juggle everything — who wouldn’t appreciate ‘SIMPLE’?
I have no doubt your talk will be very well appreciated.
Do keep us posted on how it goes.
These days, I am no longer googling for my gardening needs. I am TMGing.
Thank you Aparna! I’m glad you are TMGing. 🙂

Wow, congrats. I wish I could come. But we live in GA and my oldest daughter in school.
Is it possible to take a video to post here later? Would be very useful.
How nice that you would even want a video Alyona, but I have no way to make that happen.
If anything great arises or anything I think is important for TMG readers to hear about I will definitely post it!
Thanks Alyona.
